What is Intergroup?
Intergroup is a local service office dedicated to helping newcomers who are seeking Alcoholics Anonymous.

How is it operated?
A small staff of special workers, including an Office Manager and Staff Assistants carry out daily office activities and facilitate 12 Step work. There are 12 elected board members.

What services are provided by Intergroup?
• Phones answered 24 hours a day
• Maintains online A.A. Meeting Directory
• 12-Step calls
• A.A. Literature – English, Spanish, non English languages
• A.A. Grapevine publications
• A.A. Orientation Meetings
• MIRUS monthly newsletter (Minneapolis Intergroup Recovery Unity and Service)
• Public information
• Publication of Meeting Directories
• Cooperation with Outside Agencies

Who pays for it?
A.A. Group contributions, A.A. members’ personal contributions, the sale of publications from A.A. World Services, Inc. and publications from the A.A. Grapevine.

Does my group have a voice in its affairs?
Yes, each A.A. Group should have an Intergroup Representative. They inform their home group about your Intergroup Service Office and the local service opportunities available.

My Home Group already has a GSR. Do we still need an Intergroup Representative?
Yes, the Intergroup Representative communicates to the group the many service opportunities that exist to carry the message. The GSR serves their General Service District and General Service Area Assembly carrying their group’s voice to the annual General Service Conference.

We have our own meeting place. Why do we need Intergroup’s help?
Intergroup phone volunteers help newcomers find your meeting location. Your Intergroup Service Office phone lines are the permanent connection to all A.A. Groups in the Greater Minneapolis area.

How can my A.A. group be of service?
You can start by seeing that your group has a voice at the monthly Intergroup Reps meeting, helping your fellow members know about the many service opportunities that exist to carry the message. Ensure that your group treasurer fulfills the group’s primary purpose by contributing to Minneapolis Intergroup on a regular basis. No matter how small, every contribution helps.

What are some ways I can be of service to Intergroup?
There are several ways to get involved, including answering phones with one of your A.A. Groups, volunteering in the office, being on the 12-Step calls list and being a member of Night Owl/Early Bird Phone Committee.
